Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War is the latest installment in the classic series, and it is quickly taking the gaming world by storm. Whether you’re playing in campaign or one of the various multiplayer modes, you’ll need to get yourself set with the best weapons. Call of Duty has a ton of base weapons as well as numerous blueprints and attachments. Attachments are great for adding features to your weapons and letting you deal more damage.
To help you get started, we’ve compiled a list of the top 10 best attachments to use on any gun in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War.
10. Airborne Elastic Wrap
The Airbone Elastic Wrap is a type of handle that adds control to your weapon. Nothing special is needed to unlock this attachment. It gives you a 30% faster aim down sight (ADS) time, which is the stat that regulates how quickly you can ready the gun and aim using the sight. This is an important one according to most COD players and many of them consider it to be one of the most critical stats. It also gives you 90% more flinch resistance (aim control while being shot) and the ability to aim while in prone.
This attachment does negatively affect both the shooting movement speed (10%-15%) and sprint to fire time (15%). Sprint to fire time is the delay between breaking your sprint and readying your weapon.
9. Steady Aim Laser
The Steady Aim Laser is reminiscent of the Laser Sight attachment which appears in previous COD games. For assault rifles, SMG’s, tactical rifles, LMG’s, and sniper rifles, this body attachment unlocks at weapon level 5. This attachment improves your hip fire accuracy by 30% on all weapons. This is the accuracy of your weapon when not aiming with sights. Though there is a bit of a split in the gamer community over this play style, it is nice to have it as an option. Unlike some other attachments, the Steady Aim Laser does not negatively affect any of your stats.
8. Wire Stock
Stock provide structural support to your weapons. The Wire Stock is another attachment that allows you a faster sprint to fire time (10%). So, with this new structural support, you can switch between sprinting and firing more rapidly. This is helpful for those of you who like to weave through the enemies and switch between active combat and sneaking through the shadows. With a faster sprint to fire time, it’s easy to quickly take down enemies that pop up on you out of nowhere.
This attachment unlocks at weapon level 19 on most guns. The exception is the Gallo SA12, which is a shotgun that has the Wire Stock available from the beginning. This attachment does not negatively affect any weapon stats.
7. 40 Round Mag
A gun’s magazine is the chamber that feeds ammunition into the firing chamber. The 40-Round Mag attachment is available for the AK-47 assault rifle and the Uzi SMG. The AK-47 has a base magazine size of 30 rounds while the Uzi only has 25 rounds by default. These weapons are designed for close up combat. So, as you can imagine, being able to fire rapidly for more rounds is extremely beneficial. You don’t want to get caught in combat running out of ammo and needing to reload.
You can’t go wrong with this attachment. It has no negative effects on any of your stats and it is only beneficial. With this, you get an additional 10 or 15 rounds depending on which weapon you use it with.
6. Foregrip
The Foregrip, also known simply as the Grip, is an attachment that has been available in every main COD game since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. In Black Ops Cold War, this attachment is available from the start. For various assault rifles and SMG’s, the Foregrip improves your horizontal recoil control by 15%. For some LMG’s, it improves the horizontal recoil control by 20%. Horizontal recoil control reduces how much the gun moves to the right or left while shooting.
The Foregrip does not have negative effects for any of your weapon stats. The only downside to this grip over some of the others is that it does not give you any additional control over vertical recoil. So, while it won’t sway from side to side as much, you will still experience the upward movement while shooting.
5. Task Force Barrel
The Task Force Barrel is a very unique attachment because it has different stat changes depending on what type of gun you use it for. It is available at any level for all gun classes. For most gun classes, each gun gets improved damage (3%-45%), effective damage range (40%-100%), and bullet velocity stats (50%-120%). Shotguns (Hauer 77 and Gallo SA12) only benefit from increased damage, but the increase is much higher than most weapons in other gun classes; 45% for the Hauer and 81% for the Gallo.
However, you should be aware that some stats take a hit with this attachment. For assault rifles, SMG’s, and pistols, max starting ammo (25%-33%), vertical recoil control (20%-30%), and horizontal recoil control (15%-20%) all decrease. For tactical rifles, only vertical recoil control (20%) and horizontal recoil control (15%) are decreased. LMG’s have decreased magazine ammo capacity (7%), max starting ammo (38%), and ammo capacity (7%). In shotguns, only the effective damage range (13%) is affected. You’ll notice, however, are mostly outweighed by the benefits.
4. Field Agent Grip
The Field Agent Grip is an underbarrel attachment available for assault rifles, SMG’s, tactical rifles, and LMG’s. It is available at weapon level 41 for each of these. Grips like these are used to give you more control over your weapon. So, this attachment improves both vertical recoil control (6%-10%) and horizontal recoil control (20%-40%).
This attachment does negatively affect shooting move speed (9%-30%). That said, depending on what type of player you are, having the ability to control your weapon may be more helpful than being able to sprint through your enemies while shooting. It’s all about just figuring out the right play style.
3. Reinforced Heavy Barrel
The Reinforced Heavy Barrel is available for various NATO related assaults rifles, SMG’s, pistols, and shotguns at default. This barrel comes in different specified sizes based on the gun you equip it with, but this generally doesn’t affect the stat changes. The Reinforced Heavy Barrel improves effective damage range (12%-100%) and bullet velocity (40%-80%) for assault rifles, SMG’s, and pistols. The Pelington 703 sniper rifle gets an increased fire rate (11%) and bullet velocity (30%). Shotguns get an improved effective damage range (12%) and fire rate (5%-16%).
For assault rifles, SMG’s, and pistols, sprinting move speed (4%) and aim walking movement speed (15%-20%). The Pelington 703 has a decreased aim movement walking speed (20%) and idle sway control (15%). For shotguns, sprinting move speed (4%) and aim walking movement speed (15%) are negatively affected.
2. Suppressor
The Suppressor, also known as the Silencer, is available for various weapons at all levels. Interestingly, this attachment affects both regular weapon stats and zombie stats. All guns get a 100% muzzle flash concealment and increased chance of equipment drop for zombies. Muzzle flash concealment allows you to keep yourself hidden more effectively by totally negating the muzzle flash. This is also useful for training your aim on enemies.
In assault rifles and LMG’s, the effective damage range (15% for assault rifles, 25% for LMG’s) and bullet velocity (15%) are negatively affected for both regular and zombie stats. Tactical rifles have a 15% decrease in bullet velocity for both regular and zombies. For SMG’s and pistols, the effective damage range is decreased by 15%. Shotguns also have a decreased effective damage range but it’s 13% rather than 15%.
